Things to consider before you buy your Blinds or Shutters

Before thinking about colour, pattern, or texture, start with function. Consider the room itself—how it’s used, the time of day it gets the most use, and what you need from the space.

Do you struggle to control natural light? Is the room overlooked or lacking privacy? Will your blinds or shutters be exposed to moisture, such as in a kitchen or bathroom?

Answering these questions will help guide your decision, ensuring you choose blinds or shutters that not only look great but also work perfectly for your lifestyle.

Allusion® blinds

Allusion blinds are an innovative window dressing that combines the elegance of sheer voile curtains with the practical light control of vertical blinds. They are designed with individual fabric vanes that feature alternating sheer and opaque sections, allowing you to filter natural light without completely blocking your view or sacrificing privacy.

Key Features and Benefits:

  • Walk-Through Design: Unlike traditional vertical blinds, Allusion vanes are not connected by bottom chains. This allows you to simply walk through the blind to access patio or bi-fold doors while the blinds are still drawn.
  • Versatile Light Control: You can rotate the vanes to three main positions:
    • Fully Open: Slide them to the side for an uninterrupted view.
    • Filtered Light: Tilt them to let light pass through the sheer sections while maintaining privacy.
    • Total Privacy: Rotate them fully so the opaque sections overlap to block out light and external views.
  • Ideal for Large Glazing: Their design makes them a popular choice for wide windows, sliding glass doors, and contemporary extensions.
  • Child & Pet Safe: They are typically operated via a cordless wand, eliminating hazardous loops and tangles.
  • Insulation: The layered fabric provides an extra barrier, helping to retain heat in winter and keep rooms cooler in summer

We recommend cleaning your Awning at least twice a year; Once before using it in the summer and again before you’ve rolled it up for winter, we also recommend wiping the metal components and fittings twice a year with a soft cloth dampened with warm soapy water.

  1. Our awnings are water resistant and can handle light rain just fine; But they are not designed to withstand some of the more extreme conditions in winter such as heavy rain, wind and snow.
  2. We recommend minimal use of the Awning throughout winter
  3. we also recommend removing the decorative fabric valance and storing it somewhere dry until the warmer weather returns.

Are Awnings Wind and rainproof?

  1. Although water resistant and durable, our retractable Awnings are not designed for heavy rain as this can pool on the fabric and substantially increase the Awning’s weight.
  2. We strongly recommend leaving the Awning fully retracted on windy days or during heavy rainfall.
